Scold childKids are everywhere on TV these days. Whether it is for commercials, TV shows or movies, the demand for child actors is always high. If you think your kid has what it takes to be in show business, then bring him or her to an audition. While you are there though, here are a few things you should never do.

  1. Drag Your Child To An Audition. This should go without saying, but some stage parents are too in it for themselves to care what their child wants. If your child doesn’t want to be an actor, you shouldn’t force them to be. It should be their choice.
  2. Scold Your Child.Rejection is a sobering reality for lots of actors, and that is no different for child actors. If you take your child to multiple auditions, and they do not get the part, do not be too hard on them. Scolding your child in front of people not only embarrasses them, but you look bad as well. While rejection can be disappointing, a little encouragement can go a long way.
  3. Get In The Way.
When it comes to your child’s audition, its all about them. If you would like to introduce yourself to the casting director and other creative staff, that is fine. Leave it at that though. Some stage parents have talented kids, but they don’t get parts because of their parents’ behavior during casting. Do not blow it for your kids. Just sit back and watch.

Show business can be a rough industry to break into, and your child will need all the help they can get. While it is good you are taking an interest in your child’s future, you may be doing them a disservice. Take these three lessons to heart during the next audition. It could make a huge difference.
